Movies That Hit Home

Hitting home as in too close, usually high on derealization combined with powerlessness movies.

Last time something got to me was Stay from around the second half of that movie, for that reason.

Movies depicting similar trauma to mine tend to be therapeutic and I actively seek them out (and then annoy most of my friends with impressions and months long critiques.) Derealization and helplessness movies are on my reaally have to be in the mood for this, otherwise nope, shitlist.

ROFLMFAO... I so did that with 'Beyond Borders' :roflmao:

Its not my usual MO, so it reeeeally drove people effing crazy. But I'd never seen anything before that actually had my job post-military in it (not the main characters, some of the ensign expendables). And I got a leeeeetle obsessed with pointing out each little 2 second clip of "me" and what was totally accurate, and what was total BS, and, and, and... FFS. STFU already! ...But! But! You've just gotta see this, I mean... Noooooooooo. :hilarious:

I'd forgotten all about that.

Has anyone else have a movie that resonates deeply within them?

I avoid those movies like the plague, if I'm thinking clearly. Movies that even hint at the possibility. Because either they're going to be wrong, and piss me off, or worse... Be right... And reeeeally piss me off.

One of those; Nope! Not gonna do it! Pass. Cheque please. Nein. Nada. Mi dispiache. Nyet. Nah. No. Non. Ìe. Lalalalalalalalalalala. Finis.

For me it was "Perks of being a Wallflower", experienced the same type of abuse and the same experiences as a child an adolescent that is portrayed in the movie. As a matter of fact, that is the reason I ended up this forum. Watched the movie a few weeks ago and it has sent me into a downward spiral. Started having flashbacks and panic attacks, and bad episode of depression has set in.

Never had a movie do that before. Was not expecting it at all.

I watched that movie for the first time a few months back.. and I have to say it was intense, more than I expected . They should have warnings on movies like that.. but I thought it was a good portrayal of life unerstand those circumstances.

All the best lonely.

Greetings
Castaway and Sully

I was a first responder to a major airliner crash.

Impact scenes in both movies are way too close for me to shirk off to Hollywood special effects.
