Just wondering if anyone else does muscle rolling...?
It’s been well known in the fitness world for awhile now, but more recently it’s gone mainstream.
I started doing it a few months ago for muscle tension, using a nubby foam roller. A few days ago I expanded and bought three more types of rollers, one a smooth foam roller, and two hand held rollers.
I must say, the effect that muscle rolling has on my body is AMAZING. I hold much of my stress/tension in my shoulders and back. Sometimes it’s so bad that it feels like my nerves are on fire. Muscle rolling calms my nerves down to the point where I don’t feel any of this physical anxiety anymore. I can actually sleep!
It was originally thought that muscle rolling was just a way of prepping for a workout or soothing muscles after a workout, but researchers are finding that it has an effect on the nervous system and can have a calming effect on the body.
It’s pretty interesting stuff! I don’t know exactly how it works, but I know it works for me.
I know that a lot of us hold tension in our muscles so that’s why I thought I’d start this thread on muscle rolling and how it has benefited me. I’m making it a part of my daily routine.
Rollers aren’t that expensive, and for me it was worth spending some money to see if they’d help me. My cheapest roller was about $10 and the most expensive was $20. I bought them off of Amazon. So much more beneficial than many of the other much more expensive things I’ve tried! Lol.
