Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move - I looked at all the categories and this seemed to suit best. Thanks!

I suck at exercising. I get bored too quickly to ride an exercise bike or elliptical, even if I do it while reading. I don't like walking outside, and I can't fathom the job behind running. (Not against anyone who does it, just haven't wrapped my mind around it yet.)

So. I'm trying to find ways to get my ass in gear and move, on the theory that exercise is a tool against this demon. I threw my music on shuffle and decided to to something to each song, exercise in 3-4 minute bursts with different rhythms may keep my interest.

Here's what I have so far, please let me know other ideas - I imagine it'd be the same as any other exercise thing, but looking for more fanciful options...?

Did today
* Hula hoop - really good for including toe touches, especially when you're starting. :)
* Hacky sack - I'm bad at this, I'm just tapping it between hands, not up to knees or feet yet, but toe touches!
* Belly dance - no clue how to do it, but I figure pretending I do helps move the core and tush, anyway.

Ideas but haven't done yet.
* Exercise bike
* Elliptical - I have a unit that combines both, a nice way to save on space. Also make a good clothes rack...
* Jumping jacks
* Crunches
* Planks
* Toe Touches
* Squats

As long as something like Innagattadavita or Paradise by the Dashboard Light don't come in, it should be managable chunks of time. :)

if you have a step...do up/don steps, punches even without bag...just imagine, dance....You are on the right track to mix it up. I use a Wii Fit for rhythmic boxing, step, etc...not sure if you have access to something like that. Keep it up, just keep trying....I know for me exercise really is a good release, distraction, change in how body feels even if only temporary.

I don't have a Wii, but the punching sounds good, too, I didn't think of that or the steps. Thanks!

Look into Gaia.com. it's only $10 per month, you can do it online, and it has a variety of things from yoga to zumba. I use it for yoga myself.
