This week I go back to Trauma Therapy preparations with my therapist. I am looking forward to that. I found an old sketchbook or 2 in my bedroom, so I am happy to say I have plenty of paper to use to paint on @Chiqui . I've hardly scratched the surface of my paints, so I have enough art supplies for the month, I am happy to see and tell you.

@SheilaKathy , so glad you got some sketchbooks. Thanks for telling me :)
Yes, I agree. All cults hace the same features, It doesn't matter if they are self help cults, religious, meditation cults, mormons or Herbalife. The coercitive mind control that they do on their followers its very similar.
For me, one of the worse "remains" It is the cult pseudopersonality. It makes difficult to trust on myself and in others, and places you in aisolated state, between other horrible things.
But It gets better with the right professional and qualified treatment. Mine It is almost over and I am looking now for a qualified trauma professional who understands about cults damages on people. Wish you success with you starting theraphy. I would appreciatte whatever you want to share here about your realizations. All the best!!

I never even thought to tell my therapist about my involvement yet, but I will mention it, especially since I was involved for about 25 years. I have only been with this therapist for a few months, so it just has not come up yet. I am sure it will come up though. There will be a lot to tell!

WoW!! I am sure It will!
I have been two years with an exit cult therapist. It was hard but so helpfull!
After I have been 5 years with a psicologist on GP. He has been good, but I need to move on. Now I am going once weekly to a women's group. It is helping me with social skills. I am pleased.
I heard about MRD, but I find It too intrusive for me.

I was misdiagnosed (just sayin') @SheilaKathy with bipolar for nearly 30 years (a...
Hey could you tell me how the treatment changed from when they thought you were bipolar to finally realizing you have ptsd? Did the medication change or did the meds have a bad affect on u when they were treating you for bipolar? I recently was told by my (new) pdoc that he thinks I am bipolar. I know i definitely have ptsd, but who knows bp could be the reason it all started in the first place. Anyway I also have a thyroid disease (hashimotos). I am not sure how found I was when it came about but if im bp it came about around 14. Im not asking u for a diagnosos lol, just wanted to know a little more about yoir journey. It really makes me wonder if its all throid anyway. Hugs

@Amirsmom I was taken off of all bipolar medications and in those many years I'd been put on quite a lot of unnecessary "bipolar" rx's...then the therapy protocol completely changed...I went through a period of trying to rap my head around being misdiagnosed for so long...and still have residual rage for same due to the fact that I lost so many decades of recovery growth due to the misdiagnosis.

Then I was put on an anti-anxiety med only...then finally for my PTSD, I underwent EMDR Therapy (16 grueling sessions). I also had underlying A.D.H.D. and am on medication for it now. My life has completely changed...what I mean is...I now have peace up inside of my head...whereas before the diagnosis correction...I was living in hell on earth. If you have further questions, please leave me a message in my trauma diary or on my profile page. I hope this helps.
