News My Computer Updated To Windows 10 Without My Approval!

My laptop tried to upgrade to Windows 10 without my consent. I was able to stop it, but it retaliated by resetting my computer. That removes and deletes ALL apps and add-on programs.
It destroyed my college work. I am very angry at it now. Hard to speak when I'm this angry....

@cactus_jack

Why would any corporation need your consent??....for anything??....ever??

Do you not exist merely to service their interests??

In fact, you should THANK them...after all they were just trying to upgrade your software for free.

Quote........"Does Windows 10 have anything to recommend it?"

Well, it's faster and has better security, and all the "programs" are now called "Apps" apart from that, it's easy to use.

I'm surprise that it installed itself on that computer, as when it kept offering me to upgrade, I had to click in a link to go any further.

When I did eventually install it, I had to fit quite a lot of new hardware like, ...power supply, mother board, graphics card and a couple of other things.

The while lot cost me £93, but that was with paying the bloke to install it. Mind you my desk top tower was an antique, it even still has the three and a half inch floppy drive? It's still there, but not live.

I did the final opt out pop up on my computer.

It warned me like 5 times-----

"Are you SURE you don't want this FREE upgrade?"

Yeah------I'm 100000% positive!

The free upgrade ends July 29.

Since I did this "final" opt out, no more pop ups for Windows 10.

Supposedly not that many have taken advantage of the free upgrade. Well, not as many as desired. Windows 7 support will stop in 2020 from what I've read. No worries, my next device will be an apple product! That gives me 3.5 years to upgrade-----or just go without support. My printer ran out of "support" from HP over 5 years ago. Work arounds are fine.

If Windows 10 was so super duper ultra cool, then it would not have removed programs that I paid a crap-load of cash for. Mad doesn't even begin to approach my level of disgust.

They just "upgraded" my email program without asking me or warning me. And then it turns out there doesn't seem to be a way to actually contact "Them". WTH?

@scout86

They are showing you who is in control.
They will do anything they want and you WILL knuckle under.
All of them will behave more like this every......single......day.
They are becoming more brazen every......single.......day.
Hope you like submission.
Welcome to the New Normal.

I do not recommend anyone to do anything inside of their registry unless they know exactly what they are doing.

If are upgrading to win 10, back up everything including favorites.

Im also seeing an issue with Microsoft Edge (formally IE) and some sites as well as some webmail.

Win 10 isnt that horrible in my opinion though the force upgrades were rather asshole-ish. Free or not.

I seem to remember seeing a screen saying " backing up your computer" during the upgrade process.

I feel a bit daft now, as I spent all that money on replacing a lot of hardware, just to be able to install Windows 10, on a computer that in hardly use now?

I also don't use my lap too much either now, only switch them to install the updates, then shut them down again?

This I/Pad is all I ever use these days, shame really, but it's so easy to use, and portable as well, I take it out to the summer house as well, when the weather permits.

@Gadgie, I only use my Gallexy S5. I can print from work (need ink at home) and do all business there.

I seem to remember seeing a screen saying " backing up your computer" during the upgrade process.

All of my customer's and clients lost all favorites/bookmarks, all saved passwords, all settings inside of email clients.

The company I work for created a windows 10 readiness program that backs all of that stuff up so you loose nothing.

Its likely talking about files though with all the calls ive gotten, i wouldnt trust it and would back up anything important.

I must have been lucky then, (that makes a change) as after it had upgraded, I checked the all programs setting, and everything was still there.

While I'm in here, is it possible to upgrade an I/Pad, as there a few apps that I wanted to get, but I needed the latest O/S to be able to down load and install them?
