My Husband Had A Heart Attack On Saturday

Glad to hear he's doing okay. Wasn't on here much the last couple of days, missed this somehow.

I wouldn't be too worried about him being a bit "slow on the uptake" lol.

Just like you are fighting the hypervigilance right now, he likely is still trying get past the fear. Probably hasn't quite sunk in for him yet that he survived it.

Imagine surviving a plane crash and having someone reminding you to take your multivitamin in the morning. Haha.

Glad you are both ok. Don't forget to take care of yourself as well, and breathe, don't forget to breathe. ;)

Thank you, Neverthesame. I only started this thread late yesterday, so, no worries.

You are exactly right. He keeps saying he feels like he should have died. He said when he woke up this morning he wondered why he was still here. He also says he feels like he's been given another chance, that he is resolved to become a better person (though, to be honest, I don't quite know how that would be possible -- yes, I'm biased, but it's true!).

So weird . . . he had a significant heart attack on Saturday and today we took a 10-15 minute walk. Otherwise, I am taking it easy. All I did today was run to the bakery for bread and the store for ice (I needs my iced tea, especially in the hot weather we're having now! and, no, that wasn't a typo, lol). Oh, and I called the dietician at the hospital with some questions.

We made it through last night and so far today, and neither of us is looking very far ahead right now. One moment at a time.

Thank heavens for autopilot! And well done for calling 911. A lot of people don't think to do that and...

You are so right, Scout. Today he was thinking about two neighbors he had years ago. Both tried to drive themselves to the hospital while they were having heart attacks and both died on the way. So, word to the wise: do NOT try to drive yourself to the hospital!!!

Thank you, City Slicker. So far, the recovery process seems to involve more emotional than physical stuff for both of us. He starts cardiac rehab exercises on Friday. That will be really good, because he's never really done any exercise beyond walking since school, so, not for like 50 years or so. I'm the one who's always done more exercise. I'm really glad he's committed to doing it.

Maybe you will meet again sometime. Happened to me a few times. Even right now there is a person I'm sorta looking for but cannot find a way to contact

Gosh that must've all been a shock. So great that he realised what it is and you got help quickly for him. You must both be so relieved.and yes it really is amazing what they can do in modern medicine I agree, really something. My Dad had heart surgery years ago and he's doing great.
