Thank you all for your sweet, kind comments. We sing a song..."It is well with my soul" and that will always be what I will remember about this part of his life. He was a man who knew no strangers, and had always had a smile for everyone.
He shared God's love without condemnation, sharing the love that God has for all of us. I am blessed that he was/is my father. As I've carried my daughter in my heart all these years, so will I carry my father in my heart and soul.
One minute at a time is all we can do, and that is what we must do. I am happy that he got to see my son's daughter, his 9th great-grandchild, and we have a picture of that.
I believe that in our faith, Death is swallowed up in victory, because he has finished the human battles with dignity and love for all souls, believers, and non-believers. Black or white, gay and straight, a soul is a soul.
