National Personnel Resords. What Does This Mean?

Quoting the following from the letter NPRC sent me. They appologixed twice for the crap copies they did send me. However, I just noted this little gem citing the privacy act.

"The Privacy Act of 1974 does not permit the release of Social Security Number and certain other PII of a third party without that party'sauthorization. Thus, all personal data pertaining to other individuals has been deleted from this document."

WTF. Does that mean every FITREP and Medical treatment record cannot be released. Can't be. Can it? Therein resides the proof of everything that has happened to me.

Some things do come to mind on why they would not release the records. My first ship had a nuclear weapons security breach and I was in a nuclear workers observation program. Second ship was involved in a huge government coverup which was subsequently uncovered.

Anyone else involved in sordid government dealings which has had the effect of records being locked up?

Wagon, what are you missing from your record?? What service are you from? When did you get out?

This should not apply for your information but the answers to these question can help me decipher what is going on. To me they may be hiding from the fact that they lost records due to flodding and I believe a fire. To make it safer, they are requiring all new records to be archived on a massive server. Like that will never get hacked.

What third party are they talking about, guys you served with? It shouldn't be blanketed over all your records. I can see if they redact names and service numbers and then send that page to you. If it has to do about events that are still classified, I have a form you can fill out to send to the DoD. But even then, DoD wouldn't have released them to NPRC.

This sounds more like a cluster-f___ than something devious, Wagon.

Pump them for more info and get back, something's weird here.

Yeah, I am now requesting all my reserve records as that my active duty records went to that screwed up organization. I remember A long time ago I had requested and actual Honorable Discharge paper from Office of Navy Personnel. They never answered. DD214 is probably it.

I thought the privacy act quote was a bit odd. Was always told those records are my property, kept safe by the Guv. Ha!!!!!

Lurch I served US Navy 86 to 90. Reserves 90 to 94.

I'm getting the feeling that anything to do with a Vet puts you on a "pay no mind" list. The VA just cancelled my shrink appoitment for no apparent reason other than confusion. no call back yet. But I do have that Nutritionist appoitment.

My plan is to make up my ideal diet for a week, with caloric count per day. Present it to them and then ask how I'm supposed to follow it with missing teeth, rotting gums, and the whole depression/anxiety/anger cycle going on. This should coincide with my appeal to dental for treatment in which I enclosed a tooth. Also my information to my congressman and senators noting how a Vet off the streets seeking help is treated should be processed by then.

I'm planning blitz's of varrying intensity every day. Nothing else to do with all this anger.

I think that would be a nice twist to the situation.

I'm well aware the entire country is corrupt.

VA cancels meeting with shrink.......VA calls up to tell me I need a meeting with a shrink. Meeting with shrink made. Another 3 week wait. Sigh. But that nutritionist appoitment is holding strong.

Wagon, I dont have good news for you. The flooding could be the cause of not being able to retrieve your records, but it is most likely that they lost their data system in 2013. They have no idea where your record is and if it still exists.

We have had a patient that has been trying to get their past medical record to no avail. NPRC told us
“no one was going to go into the basement and look through all the boxes for records …”

Our ISIC told to us is to have our patients complain to their Congressman. They won't usually listen to one or two but if we can get 100 complaining then things happen. Sometimes it is no easier being AD either.

PM me if you want me to try to get them pulled, I canonly pull med records.

That flood is a huge disaster. Wow! How could they let a flood happen in an archives? Flood and fire are pretty much the major high points of protection for archives. We're talking US GUV here I know. Data system gone too.

Hate to be suspiscious but......That flood wipes out allot of claims. Saves the guv allot of money.
