OK, I am not expecting any of you to believe me in what I am going to say now because I don't believe it myself! How can it be possible to have so much go so wrong with me in the space of a few months, and all since my PTSD diagnosis!
As some of you will be aware, I dislocated my shoulder back at the beginning of May and since then have had all kinds of difficulties in sleeping due to bad muscle spasms that I was blaming on my shoulder. I dislocated my shoulder as the result of a coming together with a very heavy fire door and just assumed that the pain was caused by that. I spoke to my chiropractor on Monday and told him about the problems that I had been having with the pain in my shoulders, back and neck and he asked me various questions which I answered and strangely asked me if I had had any falls recently. I told him that I had one heavy one when I fell getting into a breakdown truck the week before I did my shoulder in and then I passed out and hit the floor pretty hard a couple of weeks back. He called me back yesterday and said that he had emailed me a referral letter to go and get some xrays done on my spine, which I did first thing this morning. My chiro then kept calling the hospital until they emailed him the results over to him and he called me about 15 minutes ago.
I am shocked and scared to say that I have got two compression fractures of my T12 and L1 vertebrae....
Its no wonder I have had back pain!! I am still getting over the shock of it, and have got to go and see him to discuss the various treatment options, which apparently can range from doing nothing about it (which he said was not an option), a back brace, rest and painkillers to having the vertebrae surgically fused! I may or may not have to be refered to the hospital depending on what happens. I want my chiro to continue the care if he can but I dont know whether that will be possible. I am really rather over emotional about it right now as its come as a big shock so please forgive me.
