New And Scared

aatredes,

Welcome to the forum! I actually just registered myself a few hours ago but I think a lot of the information here is highly useful. Your trauma may have been different, but the symptoms always seem to follow the same curve! One thing I know, is that having any type of place to air your worries out is nice, especially when it seems friends and family have been exhausted as options. Making friends here definitely will help open avenues to new insights and ideas.I hope your new therapist pans out really well for you!

Hello aatredes,

There is something you should know and it is based on informed scientific research and my own experience. Doctors today are giving benzodiazepines as Klonopin like candy and they are indicated only for short term help – for about 7 days, because they are very addictive and brain adapts too fast. Because of that they loose efficacy very fast and a person needs higher dose to find a relief she used to get with lower doses.

Problem is that brain adapts to the presence of the chemicals that lowers the activity and when they are stopped brain is actually in overdrive, causing worse experiences then it used to fix.

I have been taking Klonopil for 8 months and stopping was not pleasant at all for me, I had much more anxiety, i was agoraphobic to the point I couldn't leave my house for months and anxiety I felt was much worse then when i started taking them. That happens to some percentage of people and I hope its not the case with you but I felt you should know the facts. Search for Ashton manual written by the expert in the area of benzodiazepines and be informed.

Good luck to you.

I hope you can find any of the peace you are looking for. I will not say I hope you find all the peace as I feel my PTSD stole a lot of peace which I will never get back. The hopeful thing is I am trying to learn upon what aspects of the survival peace I can live a happy life on. Hope you find the same

Welcome aatredes, I am new myself, and like you hoping for some relief. Good luck with the therapist tomorrow, I hope you can connect. Regardless of how we acquired PTSD, the outcome is the same, and that is the part we are all struggling with. I hope along with others we can find ways of gaining some respite.
