Not fit to return to work.

I went through something like this. I had short term and long term disability through my work, which I also paid into. This kept my salary up for three years, then they dumped me out of the blue, even though SSDI didn't. So my salary was more than cut in half. I do poverty well, though. I take advantage of everything that's available to me. It is a life altering process, so allow yourself to grieve if they don't come to a decision that favors you.

So it is Tuesday morning and no news so far. Not sure what I was expecting this morning when I woke up.

So now I guess I wait for a phone call, email, text message, carrier pigeon whatever with news or even a hint of rumor regarding what decision was made. Tomorrow is the last day of my 12 weeks FMLA leave and I am at this time approved for my STD policy from work through April 8th.

Strange question if they do terminate and agree to do so under the conditions of my contract which includes severance can I still get my disability check? The company’s policy with STD has always been that if you turn in your disability check to them they will pay you the equivalent of your full time regular paycheck (no OT). But I am according to my dr still medically disabled so would I get my weekly severance check and my weekly disability check from the insurance company until the insurance runs out?

I really really hate uncertainty and I really really hate waiting.

I'm on disability from work and their insurance company pays 60% of my salary. Anything that I make on my own by working goes to them to offset what they are paying me. So yea - it was a big pay cut. They don't take my VA disability but they would take my SSI if I was on that. They do have a return to work clause where they will allow me to keep both my disability and work income up to what I was making before -- but it's a complicated process.

@Freida thanks for the help. My situation is a little more complicated than yours (I started to explain here and realized that if I did it would be a ridiculously long post) so I guess my best bet is the type my question out and forward it to my attorney hopefully the answer to the question is part of the type work that I am paying him to do for me.

Okay I feel like this roller coaster ride that I am on just keeps getting worse, higher heights, lower...
hello, I completely understand because im in the same situation. I used up all my fmla and applied for accommodation. accomodation is for one year. My short term will run out in two weeks. I had to apply for long term disability with my employer. also, applied for SSDI and SSI due to policies with LTD. I am going to call lawyer about disability because I heard its easier to be approved. My diagnoses are major depression disorder, ptsd, anxiety, and an eating disorder. I am going to inpatient very soon for my eating disorder. Just waiting for someone to call for start date. I have been going back and forth part time and completely off since october 2017.

Good luck on everything

The company Allsup is also very helpful. Your long term insurance will probably have you apply for SSDI. SSI is for those who have never worked, or haven't worked in over 8 years, I think. They subtract the amount of SSDI you get from what you get with long term disability.

yes, you are correct. I didnt mean to add ssi, but already applied for ssdi. I spoke with a lawyer today. She advised me with the information that was given, I should not be denied. also, if I am denied she will help me with the appeal. she gave me some tips to add to the claim.

I don't trust the SSDI process. I have seen to many people that need the help be denied and on the flip side to many others that were exaggerating/faking get approved at first try.
