Not Sleeping Well And Pains?

I'm writing this as I am in bed about to sleep. It's 01:12 and I'm do tired it's unbelievable. But due to many factors (nightmares, anxiety etc) I haven't been sleeping well.

What I'm wondering is can lack of good quality sleep cause pains?

In the last couple of weeks as my sleep has been deteriorating greatly, I've been getting much more back pain, neck pain (and everywhere else - stomach, legs, ribs, chest), bruises are forming quicker and hurting more and the pains are a mixture of achy pains and sharp pinpoint pains. Are the two related? (Lack of sleep and pains all over)

This could just be my anxiety making things worse than they are but I just want to put my mind at ease..

ETA: Heat helps with the pain. Not sure if that's relevant but yeah.

I could never say definitively why you have the pain (check up always a good idea), but for me - definitely a big yes.

I particularly remember in my late 20's having tremendous physical pain - in my joints, bones, muscles, tendons, which was at a time of great sleep deprivation and depression and years without the correct diagnosis and treatment. I had a complete physical. It was nothing organic.

I still do get aches with fatigue, but it has never been as bad as those years.

Maybe go to the doc, try to get naps if night sleep is bad. Over the counter pain killer. I am sorry it hurts so bad.

Like franciemarnie said, a check up is never a bad idea, but in my experience stress/anxiety = bad sleep = more stress = pain.

The quality of sleep changes things for me too, because when I'm too stressed I clench my fists, my jaw, shoulders, everything when I'm asleep. Sometimes I end up with massive cramps during nightmares. Could you maybe be doing something like this in your sleep too, leading to achy or spasming muscles, joints, tendons etc? You could go to a physio or get a massage if you can handle that kind of thing.

Research into Fibromyalgia would possibly help. I did a huge amount of research into it last night on behalf of a member. I was surprised by the research into the subject and was quite surprised.
