@CooCoo4CocoaPuffs I love grackles! Love their sounds, the way they walk, their oil slick sheen. I have very distinct memories of times that I saw them and they made such an impression on me. They used to be more common in my city, not so much anymore.

Their iridescent (?) feathers mesmerize me. I like their weird noises, too. That being said, I FREAK OUT when I see a black-billed Magpie. They are utterly gorgeous and so….friendly. I love them!

@CooCoo4CocoaPuffs I don’t know if I’ve ever seen one! I used to live in a state that had magpies—when I was little. I think they were yellow-billed. I remember hearing how they would mob people jogging or cats sometimes.

magpies are the keepers of the peace in the brush, they announce the presence of anyone or anything disturbing their space. Its only quiet if they are in a mood for quiet.

I smiled today when my grandsons were both using the wax candles on their birthday cakes to dip and lick the frosting. Twins, 2 years old, blond with blue, grandpa was smiling.

P is still alive, I'm grateful for it every day when I see he's still here. The cat "checks he's still alive" every morning. I do too if he sleeps late. Though I can just go and see if he's breathing. The cat is a lot more thorough lol.
