Being in nature is the only thing that makes sense to me. The only place I relax. The only place I really breathe.
I have chronic pain and can't walk for miles like I want to. But I can find a place to sit. And marvel at how it all works in harmony. Unlike our lives.
Guess Dr's won't know how theraputic it is unless we tell them. Then maybe they will suggest it to others.

As archaic as medicine used to be, the old -prescription to go spend a few weeks in the mountains, (or "healing" springs")-, popular in the 1800-1900's had some merit in it. Be it the air or the water, being outdoors and in a change of scenery is seriously beneficial to one's well being x

I spend the majority of my time outside. Helluva difference between that & outdoor sports (climbing like in the article, snowboarding, surfing, hiking, etc.). Those things provide purpose, and focus, and exercise, & grounding (pay attention or go splat).

My therapist says nature heals (and I didn't read the article). It is true. The more I am outside the better I get in general. I may need the help of my service dog in training to go outside, but the more I am the more I am healing without any other "processing". I wouldn't say at all that it can replace therapy but nature in of itself is very healing.

Agree, wholeheartedly! We have a lot of Water Oaks that line the roads around where I used to live and I'd walk every morning up and around the park, and back. It seems to work on every level of my being and soften the rough edges.
