I was invited to go to a Burns Night supper this evening and was reluctant to start with. My inviter insisted and I fought back my fears of anxiety at being in a large crowd of strangers as Burns Night is one of my favorites and always has been.

Fantastic Haggis with proper Tatties and Neaps. Followed by a great Cranacken washed down with a large single malt.

Great to finally go out with a complete bunch of strangers and no one looking at me funny. (I always get paranoid in large gatherings these days).

Was good to shake off the shackles of panic and I quickly settled down and stopped grinding my teeth (which sometimes can be quite loud when I am nervous)

Night Night all - and thanks again for being such a good crowd to simply vent off with when the need is such, but mainly for the support I get on here and the encouraging words that always lift me when I feel quite down.

Love this forum and all the differing personalities we have here.

My thanks to all of you Owners. Staff and members alike.

Kind regards and good night.

(No longer a shattered soul) feel more and more like I want to be a DUCK myself.

PS I can speak like the famous Donald (quite literally to my children's delight when they were younger)

The anniversary of Rabbie Burns a famous Scottish Poet.

Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796) (also known as Robbie Burns,[1] Rabbie Burns, Scotland's favourite son, the Ploughman Poet, Robden of Solway Firth, the Bard of Ayrshire and in Scotland as The Bard)[2][3] was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. He is the best known of the poets who have written in the Scots language, although much of his writing is also in English and a light Scots dialect, accessible to an audience beyond Scotland. He also wrote in standard English, and in these his political or civil commentary is often at its bluntest.

Haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver and lungs); minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally encased in the animal's stomach and simmered for approximately three hours. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a sausage casing rather than an actual stomach.

Tatties and Neaps are simple - mashed potato (tatties) and mashed swede (neaps) - both traditional Scottish vegetable accouterments.

Cranachan is a traditional Scottish Sweet comprising Oats, raspberries with ream and the most important Ingredient (Scotch Whiskey)

Kindest regards - hope you feel enlighted @Ayesha
