Are you saying that the stressors you experience around this online stuff is creating new trauma?

I think you are mixing up the concepts of trauma as a way of describing something, vs medically defined trauma capable of creating PTSD.

According to how PTSD is currently understood to occur - your PTSD would have resulted from your witnessing of the 9/11 attacks - or, from some other qualifying trauma.

There are neurological reasons why certain kinds of trauma ‘qualify’ for PTSD, while others don’t. Something can feel like a very traumatic experience, and also not be the type of trauma that is currently understood to induce PTSD.

Stressors will put pressure on the PTSD-affected brain, and lead to symptoms flaring up. But those symptoms do not then lead to more PTSD-inducing trauma.

You’ve gotten very good advice - namely, keep away from the stressor. There’s no reason to check anything. It will only lead to more rumination, which it seems like you are stuck in.

Thanks for the response, yes perhaps I misspoke as I meant to say such created a climate of fear, stress, and helplessness which seemed to bring about regressions...I was mainly seeking out help in how to go forward and am greatly for the genuine and kind replies by all
