Will read the above links, when I have more free time, to do so. To give you, an honest response to your question. Thank you, for bring this, to my attention. Maybe there is hope for me, yet. :)

Very interesting.

But what if you have no known baseline as for those of us traumatized at a very young age? How do you exceed your baseline?

I understand the changes associated in post traumatic growth and have experienced a few, but at the same time I don't think I'll ever be better than my baseline.

It seems that this baseline idea may be more applicable to those traumatized as adults because they know what they were like before? So for the rest of us, I can see experiencing post traumatic growth but not so much as a comparison to "before".

And then a part of me wants to dismiss the idea altogether because I feel like I'm giving my abusers power in that what they did ultimately changed me for the better. Know what I mean?

Thank you for sharing that. I have never heard that term before. But the idea is quite common. Similar to "What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger". I think the world war 2 generation exemplified this idea. I don't think growth is automatic.

I think there is some truth behind the idea that the age we were at the time of the trauma impacts our ability to grow.
