Update:
I finally got an appointment!!! A concern was that getting in touch with this therapist was a real pain! Something to consider is whether her availability is going to always be this bad. I am looking forward to next week; I think. Unfortunately, though I have to pay out of pocket and it is expensive!! I am used to being in network for therapy but since I have been unable to find someone in my network that is competent and capable of dealing with trauma I had to try out of network. So normally this therapist charges 150 a session but I was told by her manager I can pay 125...big whoopie! So here is the real kicker....IF and that is a big IF I like this therapist I have the option of changing health insurance to the one that she accepts. However, the change will not occur until the beginning of the year.. So I can do 1 of two things pay her full price until A) my deductible of 1,000 is met or B) wait until January.
A small kink in this is that my husband does not want me to pay the full price even if I like her.....he thinks paying the therapist a thousand dollars (which would be the deductible) is ludicrous. Waiting until January wouldn't be the worst thing in the world but it would suck. Nothing is ever easy.
