The bishops are the real victims here? C'monon.

This is the kind of rhetoric that I recall while being raised in the Catholic church. Never the clergy's fault.

I have absolutely no respect for people/organizations that refuse to take responsibility for their wrongs. I didn't realize that Satan made a good and proper scapegoat for the wrongs of mortal beings.

*heavy sigh* When will we ever learn?

I have been a advocate for the Devil !! Who knew?
I had a feeling about you blackemerald1. :-)

I think I and most of the populace have been as well from what I just read. If only I recognized my sins in all of this -- then the bishops actions would be easy to stop focusing on.

But for now..... I still choose to focus on the bishops deeds rather than the devils. Just sayin.

I'm not Catholic (it's a cult, you know). I did follow the link & then followed their link, to the Vatican web site. There was more to what he said. And, I'm starting to wonder if he might need a better translator. (Totally serious about that.)

He talked a lot in the rest of that message about sincere prayer and humility. And about how bishops need to reconnect with the people. It seems to me that there had to be a lot of arrogance and disconnection from the "real world" to allow for that level of cover up. Somehow, they had to justify it in their own heads, right? Like any other predator? I can see blaming THAT on Satan. (Although blaming it on people being people makes more sense me.) But, if he's actually saying that the uncovering of the cover ups is Satan at work... I might have to reassess which side I'm actually on. (Or which side he's on.)

“In these times, it seems like the 'Great Accuser' has been unchained and is attacking bishops. True, we are all sinners, we bishops. He tries to uncover the sins, so they are visible in order to scandalize the people..."
Arghhhhhhhhhhh... Can't really think of anything more to say. Too much. Pretty obvious in that that attitudes have not changed.

But wait... I don't understand the Pope or Christianity... I thought that Satan was out and about all the time...an we had to avoid his temptations... huh??

Did you guys know that in a little state of Australia called Tasmania....beautiful place (truly) the Church of England is selling off it's rural churches to help pay for the compensation it has agreed to pay to it's victims.

So.. this is very unfair because a lot of the churches and land were gifted to the church... way back then.... and quite a few of them rent or lease out the land to pay for upkeep and maintenance. The ppl who attend the church see a Priest about once a month and they look after the churches themselves. So really the church isn't entitled morally to sell off these buildings etc. Lots have grave-yards from settlers.

So the sins of a few or a whole bunch of bastards elsewhere now have to be paid for by the sale of these historic buildings that have been part of these small rural communities for well over a hundred years.

This is so bad.
