Ptsd Forum Network - 2013

Further decision has been made in regard to future changes.

MyPTSD.com will become the current ptsdforum.org, as planned, however; it will not become part of the business model for legal reasons. MyPTSD.com will remain classified as a privately funded hobby site. The site authentication will change under the umbrella of MyPTSD Pty Ltd when the company is formed is 2013 / 2014, being when I obtain my qualifications and the business is established, thus I will be employed by that company for a day a week.

The companies only official site will be myptsd.com.au, which will have no official tie to this forum due to the legal complexities of the therapeutic industry. This way, every single person on the forum who has any type of therapeutic qualification remain legally and enforceable wavered from any advice or discussion given, as is now.

It keeps a very clear and distinctive separation between therapeutic advice and online discussion. It also keeps a very distinct and clear separation between what is global and what is local. An offshore person can employ a person in Australia for services, however; if done through a .com domain TLD then laws become very murky because the US has jurisdiction over .com and .net TLD's globally. They don't over .org and more specifically, .com.au, being Australian jurisdiction by law.

SO basically, this site domain name will change but won't matter, it'll redirect automatically. And the expansion is to offer online therapy? by you? and others? And it'll be your company? You're still running the whole thing neh?

PTSD Forum is actually owned by Nicolette; has been for near six years. Nicolette is the director of NJM & Co Financial Solutions Pty Ltd, who proves the SSL authenticity of the owner of the site. I am the founder and primary administrator of PTSD Forum.

Yes, the site domain will change due to a greedy marketing company holding onto ptsdforum.com, plastered with nonsense ads. Shifting to myptsd.com, there is already ownership of that domain, along with the .org. PTSD Forum also owns other relevant, close to, domain names, which all point to the main site. It is purely a domain name change, yes... and every single page will automatically redirect from its current one, to the new domain, as the structure will be identical.

The new company, which will be owned by NJM & Co Financial Solutions Pty Ltd, I will work for and provide very limited therapy services to.

Am I still running things? Yes. Will I still be running things? Yes.

Ask Anthony is not a therapeutic service, never has been, never will be. That is the exact legality of why the sites cannot be mixed together under one domain, providing both a community and an actual service.

Ask Anthony is a premium member area, hence not a paid service. Premium Member comes with lots of different things, Ask Anthony being only one of many.

The entire site is therapeutic in nature, however; the legality is that everyone here, regardless of qualification or not, participates as a member and not as a professional that has accepted money for a therapeutic service, which comes with contractual obligations for both parties and is agreed upon at time of service commencement.

That is why myptsd.com.au will provide a therapeutic service. Myptsd.com will continue to be a private hobby community, comprised of people in a similar situation. So no change to PTSD Forum other than a domain name change.

If such services were sold through myptsd.com, then it completely changes the legal scope of services provided, and I could then be held liable in the event of a dispute, under US law. By keeping that aspect separated to myptsd.com.au, then all legal matters are only liable under Australian Law, which is where insurances and such will be issued for. As stated, an International person can employ an Australian company, no issues there, though the jurisdictional law is Australia. If therapeutic services were advertised and sold via a .com domain, then the US does have jurisdiction over that, thus such services could be punishable under US law when it comes to therapeutic services.

Right now, this site is .org, so US doesn't have sole jurisdiction on those. I may even make the next one myptsd.org, and redirect the .com to it... same end result, thus Australian law still applies, as does right now. That will likely be the end outcome, even though I say .com.

It is purely to do with International laws and how they apply. Do one thing, one could get dragged across borders. Do another, and the host country laws apply only, thus a person has to file out of their native country to act.

Thank you Anthony for all you do here. I really appreciate using the forum. It is simply amazing. There is no site like this one. I imagine it keeps you very busy. Thank you for everything you for us here. I love the forum. It has helped me so much. I will donate as I am able. I am on a fixed income so it is hard for me. But I will help out.

I have amended my original plan on changing the site name and domain. It will remain ptsdforum.org. The complications involved in changing the domain in relation to web presence is significant, that after due consideration of all the facts in changing domain name, it simply isn't in my best interest in regards to the sites established web presence.

Changing is simple. The damage it would do in regards to Google and web presence, is significant.

  • Introduction of a new forum, MyDomesticViolence, which is also a very prominent subject that requires more support online.
Are you still inviting comments/suggestions about the list in your first post here? I have some thoughts about this item, but wanted to check first whether it's still relevant to post any.

Thanks.
