General Push/pull

How does anyone else handle the push/pull of the PTSD sufferer, along with their isolation?

Not well haha. I try and keep busy to keep my mind off of it, but it's hard when all you want to do is be there for them or see them. There's a lot of good advice here that's helped me get a better idea as to why they do the things they do.

Julesnaz, I know part of it has to do with my own thinking. I can handle the push/pull. But when she isolates, I get worried.

Me too, especially if I don't hear from him in days.

Three year olds are the best distraction ever lol. I'm getting better at "fake it til you feel it" while he isolates. I dont want to do anything, but once I get into whatever I end up doing I'm almost always much happier than moping around on my couch worrying.

kahlan, That would work, if I had a 3yr.-old running around.

I keep busy but it still hurts, I tell him this but it has no meaning sometimes.

If we let the people we care about do their thing and have no expectations in return... We can always feel good about ourselves

This is a new relationship 8 months but I'm struggling to understand.

Maybe he will be in touch soon but it seems to becoming a regular pattern, we are together and have a great time then he leaves and keeps in touch for about 3 wks then just seems to disappear. No matter how much I contact him he does not reply. The longest time he kept away was for 3 months. Is this how everyone else gets treated too?

@AJJ pretty much. For me at least. So far the longest we've gone without talking is a little over 2 weeks, but we haven't gotten together in 3 months. Hopefully our plans for next week will not fall through.

My friend n' I have known each other for 11yrs.. In the time, the push/pull/isolation, has been repetitive. I had trouble with it the first couple of years. There was a nine-month period of time, that I took a break from communication apart from e-mail. So I didn't hear from my friend. She probably saw it as another instance of someone abandoning her, but that was not my intention. I had been so inundated by Yahoo Messenger people wanting to chat. That I needed to take a long needed break. She seems to only communicate by Yahoo Messenger, and doesn't use smileys'. Fine by me, I rarely use anything else.

I know my situation is weird. Maybe even seeming like a pipe dream.
