I think that World Map Clock is waaay Coool but for those of us with swiss cheese brain (okay it's probably just me :p). I get the whole military time thing.

But when does the day change to tomorrow? Over what Continent? And when is it yesterday for some people? Or is it not yesterday for some people and only tomorrow?

I'm so confused. You'd think I'd be used to being confused by now but I'm not. I'm just frustrated.

What are you talking about? Time zones are the same everywhere. Some people are in "Tomorrow", but they aren't in the future or anything their time is just different. The day doesn't "legitimately" change into tomorrow at one set time. Some people are in tomorrow, some people are in today.

When does tomorrow happen? I'm in the u.s. so "today" for me is Saturday. Tomorrow for some is Sunday. When is their tomorrow? meaning which countries....that's what I'm talking about/asking

Well some countries are already in Sunday (Australia, New Zealand, etc), so tomorrow for them would be Monday? The day changes when the time hits 00:01, so in countries where their time is ahead by like twelve hours, it would be 2:42AM which would make it Sunday as opposed to 2:42PM here which makes it still Saturday. So when it hits 2:24AM for me, it will be Sunday. Then the both of us will be in Sunday at the same time, but then as soon as it hits 12:01PM for me, it will be 12:01AM for Australia - so they will advance to Monday and we will still be in Sunday. Make sense?

No it's okay I think I can see where it's getting messed up. I do it too. Instead of sitting down and focusing on it and breaking it down I just let it zoom over me and I can't get it. That isn't because you're stupid I think it's just because you have a hard time concentrating. I will try and make it easy to focus on:

Okay, you live in the United States. So the day for you right now is Saturday. Right? So as soon as the time where you live hits 12:01AM, it will then be Sunday. Because as soon as it is past 12:00AM, the day switches.

Now you know that in different parts of the world, the time is different. Those are called Time Zones. I live in Central Standard Time Zone so the time here is 3:05PM.

So I used Australia as an example because they are very ahead of us in time. I don't know the exact time, so I used 12 hours as an example.

In Australia, the day is Sunday. Because they live in Australian Standard Time, the time there would be 3:05AM. That means in Central Standard Time (Where I live) it is the afternoon, whereas in Australian Standard Time it is already the next morning.

So, Australia is already in Sunday. The reason why is because in Australia it is already past 12:01AM, because they are over 12 hours ahead. (Again, a random estimate)

That is the way it is wherever you are. No matter what country or continent you live in, it will always be "tomorrow" whenever the time hits 12:01AM. So it becomes "tomorrow" at different times everywhere all over the world. In the United Kingdom it will be Sunday six hours earlier than it will be here in Alabama, because the United Kingdom is six hours ahead in their time zone.

I'm not a very good teacher but hope I helped a bit anyway.

One of the easiest way to try and work it out is to click on the country you live in on the map.

Any country to the right of you, is in front of you time wise.

Any country to the left of you, is behind you time wise.

This is one of the easiest ways to try and remember how it works.

Obviously I don't want to add to your confusion Heather, :confused: but when amethist says about right and left does she mean her right and left or yours, is she facing you which would mean her right is your left.
Which coastline would you have to stand on to see her? :O_o:

Heather, you're not the one that gets confused - me too.

I mean the world is round(ish), right? But the picture is flat. So if those to the left of me are behind(USA), and those to the right of me are ahead(Oz), what happens if I fly the short way from USA to Oz. One minute I'm behind (when I take off from LA), all those I left in the UK, then I'm ahead of them when I land in Perth. Do I get older? Or younger? Have I lost a whole day of my life - should I move my birthday forward (or back?) a day, to ensure I don't get old before my time??? :laugh::roflmao::laugh::D

It could be a great alibi for a crime. "where were you on xx/xx/xx". "I'm sorry, that day didn't exist in my world"

Also, isn't there an island in the middle of the date line, that never has a clue what day it is?:eek:
