I have this issue a lot - my little bro is in China (+16 hours) and I'm always asking him how the day is gonna go.

all those I left in the UK, then I'm ahead of them when I land in Perth. Do I get older? Or younger? Have I lost a whole day of my life - should I move my birthday forward (or back?) a day, to ensure I don't get old before my time???

I know this was just silly but if you want a legitimate answer, time is pretty much based on speed. If you're flying on a plane, you are further ahead in time than someone walking on the ground. But, being in a certain geographical location or place doesn't change your chronological age. If you remained in Earth's orbit however, time physically moves slower there and you would return mildly younger than if you were on Earth. The faster/longer you travel toward the speed of light, the further in time you are. So theoretically, the faster you are, the further in time you are. Which makes sense even basically. When one person walks to a destination, they get there in a delayed time than if you ran to the destination.

This is exactly why I have been trying for years to get someone in Australia to look in todays paper for the USA Lotto numbers, since it is tomorrow there, Then they will read yesterday's numbers but it will be today for them and then I will have tomorrow's numbers, be rich and would share with everone!
