I'm working with my T on certain goals. I'm having a hard time completing them from a mental standpoint but in addition, just remembering to do them is an issue.

Until now I've been using reminders in my phone but it's too easy to snooze, snooze and eventually forget about it.

Anyone have any ideas (other than a notebook) to remind myself when to do specific tasks?

TIA!

Call me old fashioned but I make a paper list and feel I've accomplished something when I can scratch things off. Sometimes I do them daily when I have a lot to do. No snooze button, I keep it in a prominent place and check back on what I want to get done next.

When NewSchool fails? Try OldSchool.

I'm really digging KanBan boards, ATM, which are just visual ToDo lists that show the state of things in progress. Post-It Notes & columns with TO BE DONE, IN PROCESS, PROBLEMS, & DONE,

I also made these lists and laminated them. One is a daily list of things I would like to accomplish and the other is monthly split into the firsthalf and second half of the month. I use dry erase markers to add stuff and mark off things I've done.

(Probably not the healthiest idea) When I need to remember something, I write it on my hands with a permanent marker. (Permanent marker so I can wash my hands properly, without losing the message.)

That way I'll see it every time I go to do anything.
Getting it off your skin is a bit of a pain in the ass.
Don't do what I did here. I had to get marker ink off my hands for a function I was supposed to attend. I scrubbed and scrubbed, but couldn't get it faded enough with soap.

Sigh....

So I tried using one of those Mr. Clean eraser things.
It did get the marker out. But it also gave me a nasty friction burn on the back of my hands. For some reason I was actually surprised when that happened.

I write it down in the "notes" part on my phone, as I check that every day when I switch my phone on.

I put reminders on my phone's calender and set reminded alerts but there are apps for a smart phone or tablet to remind you of specific tasks.

If no smart phone or tablet then a laptop? If not a laptop then writing them down is all I have.

I can search for apps for you if you want.

Might be more of an issue with procrastination is the reminders lead to the action of pressing the snooze buttons Something I have been trying out is the "5 second rule" as explained by Mel Robbins in her Ted Ted talk. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp7E973zozc

(Please Ignore the title if it's at all offensive.)

It is a clever idea to get the brain from that stick procrastination state of pressing snooze over and over... to taking action.

Also, break the steps down small. Really small. Set the reminders for the small steps that you can do when the alarm goes off. I used to ignore and then forget reminders on my phone too. Breaking the steps down more helped me stay better on task.

If the forgetting is a dissociative spacey forgetting, then combing this work with grounding skills may help you be more present to remember.

If the delaying to the point of forgetting is more related to depression, combining the reminders with a coping skill for the depression might help too.

I get panic with certain tasks to the point I'lo dissociate then out. Now I'm combining those items on my to do list with a grounding skill and a reminder of a later reward if I do the task. I give my brain a reason to remember. Sometimes it's as simple as "if I do x (put clothes in washing machine - one two as part of bigger goal of doing laundry) then I can have 5 minutes of y (fun activity)"

I may have to go back to this. Buy a notebook that's cute (that's important for me) and just write... Who writes these days?! :)
