Roller Coaster Sadness & Emdr?

I've had some crazy up/down feeling since my Tueaday appointment. We did a second session of EMDR. Originally, T told me we could alternate weeks but since I was having some issues with the topic from the week before, he asked if I would be willing to keep working with the memory for a second week. Instead of waiting until next week. I agreed, it was okay, I felt okay. But now I'm having a harder time......

I'm generally going along okay, and then I have waves of sadness. I've been a bit of a grump and then Thursday night another nightmare:(. Last night just a panic attack and a ton of crying and sadness. Today, I'm just sad and a little overwhelmed. I'm not suicidal or anything like that.

Is this normal?? To feel such an influx of emotions?

Yes! This is absolutely normal. Make sure you tell your therapist about your symptoms. EMDR is intense but that's a sign that it's working

I did share with him, the response I was having. It only got worse and snowballed pretty good. We've since taken a break due to some other issues as well. When we do return to the EMDR, it'll be in shorter burst and we will always alternate weeks. No more back to back.
