Thank you for making me question my thoughts on the Swastika being such a feared /disliked symbol. It is used by extremists within a far right political party here in the UK. Their ideologies are seen by many as fascist...hence how I and many people see the Swastika.. The very reason you give, to desensitize people from nazism, is the very reason I could see why a tattoo would help in this. I know of an agency worker who openly displayed a swastika on his arm, was advised to cover it up, while others openly displayed all sorts of tattoos and nothing was said. He was not asked back the following day. So here in the UK it conjures up assumptions of the beliefs of the person, which is wrong but that is how society is. The next time I see someone with a swastika tattoo I will be sure to start a conversation with them on what it means to them.
