Can I ask for clarification on this or attempt to clarify by writing it out?

So this means that no Chat stuff can go on the forums, no Trauma Diary Stuff can go on the chat section, for those that have the private forums access, that stuff can't go on the regular forums? - Just covering my bases here.

I think you've got it. You cannot quote or share what another member has written from a private forum in a member's only forum. You cannot share another member's info from a member's only forum in a public forum.

Is this an exception? Can a person quote and/or share content they created in a more private area someplace else in a less private area?

If it is your own content. The problem is when taking someone else's content and sharing it in a less private area. They have placed their content in an area with certain privacy expectations and another member cannot violate that privacy.

If you want to share/quote your OWN content in a less private area that is okay. You just cannot make references to things that other members may have said about it when it was in the more private forum.

Unless it is your own chat statements... but you cannot take another persons chat transcript and post it anywhere, as that is breaching their confidentiality.

A simple rule for this is: If I can view the forum as a guest (not logged in) and can see the information, then it isn't considered private.

If I can't see the information and need to login to see it, then it is considered private.

Then you have the privacy levels once logged in, ie. Private > Members Only (big no-no)

You could quote member only content within another member only area, or member only content into a private only area, however; you could not quote private only content in another private only area where they are private due to usergroup differences, OR, private only content into a member only area, as you are breaching a persons privacy by doing that.

I do get the whole private vs public on the forum. What happens in private stays in private. Also would not think that copying chat transcripts and posting is cool, but I guess I've never felt that discussing chat content to be a ban-able thing. Things like sharing with someone the general content of something that happened on chat. Interesting. Can't think of a specific occurance but maybe telling someone about something funny that was said or even a mutual friend's comments, etc.

Just never thought of chat the same as the same as Private Supporters area, for example.

Again, I am just meaning chat.
