Sighs

Sigh!

My vet has been having a hard time lately.

For a while there when I got home from work he'd be angry and take it out on me (verbally - not physically). We talked about it and his "solution" is to not be home when I get home. Great. So, now I come home to an empty house every evening and he wonders back in when he feels like it. What kind of relationship is that?

Oh hon, I'm sorry. I hope you and he will be able to re-negotiate that "solution". I have nothing but admiration for you for hanging in there and doing your best for him, every day - even through days like this. Hugs!

Okay... Popping smoke might not be the best idea in the world (cough)... But winter months laying a fire in the fireplace, and summer months lighting off the grill &/or burn pit, maybe? Some kind of signal he can look for & look forward to? And if he wants to be left alone because he's being a dick, not laying the firewood out so all you have to do it light it once you've gotten home, but instead you can go do your thing and once he's pulled his head out he can come home in his own sweet time? Something along those lines, maybe?

Good on you two, though :D

What kind of relationship? The kind where each person is trying. Where you're discussing problems and actively sorting out solutions.

Solution A sucks, and needs reworking, but you two are still actively looking for solutions that work for both of you.

Would advance warnings help anything?

Such as talking to him on way home by calls, a kind of 'honey I'm coming, get ready'?

& is this care from him? I mean, feeling safe enough to be angry as f*ck around you, and it obviously not working well for improving communication, but it being some form of emotional communication (hey hon, here's your cookie for trying, now knock it off, we don't like this flavor)?

Got home last night - he wasn't there but not only had he good reason - a neighbour had asked him for a ha...

Hooray for good days! That's great that he's being thoughtful. I used to dream of C giving me flowers and loving notes - never happened though, not even once. They are important though, they let you know that your guy is trying, that he's thinking of you. Good for him.
