So I've had knee problems since I was about 8 years old and every doctor blew it off as "growing pains". Well I am now about halfway into my 20s and the pain sure has been growing to an unbearable point. I have alway been terrified of doctors since I was never a healthy baby/child so my nerves are absolutely going insane. I was only able to find a male doctor to look at my knees so that is adding to my nervousness. I'm terrified of going right now and my appointment is at 1 pm. I wish I could just blink and it would be over with already.

(((((((((((((((((((((Bittersweet))))))))))))))))))))))

I really feel for you. I have my own issues for my own reason from years ago...nobody believed my migraines were real..I've had them now for over 40yrs. They are real ;) I have no doubt your pain is real and it's not gotten better. How scary and BRAVE to go and see another dr! It's unfortunate when your first experiences are so poor but there are great drs out there, I promise you that!!

Here is something I have done, I am sure I've posted before but it helped me so maybe it will help you, it was something someone once suggested to me. Write down the names of those you know you trust and love you - those who have your back - put that list in your pocket, take them with you. This dr may or may not be the one who sees what the problem is but the people on the list do!! Remember that and if you start to feel discourage feel the list, take it out and read the names, ask for a referral, whatever you need to do.Everything will be as it should be. Take good care.

Thinking of you,
peace and strength,
Rain

Thank you Rain. I will definitely try your idea. I currently have a special pendant being made for me for a similar reason. I hope this works. Your thoughts and well wishes help a lot. Thank you again.

You feel like doctors fob you off? I bet you arent the WAIL AND SCREAM type. It feels like people who just 'say' often dont get taken seriously.

So say it. Say you need to take this seriously. Its serious. (that might get the attention)

If that doesnt work, make him roll up his pants and show you HIS kneecaps (and I bet they're nobby :p) before he goes near yours ;)

Haha Jacquie you made me laugh. I don't like doctors because of the invasion of personal and intimate space along with the fact I know I wasn't a healthy child and I am always scared if I go they are gonna find another thing wrong with me. If it was a female doctor I wouldn't mind as much but unfortunately orthopedic surgeons are usually males in my area.

I don't care whether they are male or female. As long as they are a good physician. Mine sucks and changing physician's isn't an option. So I am stuck with him.

I never used to care about gender Sandra but after my trauma I don't trust any men except my husband. I hope things get better with your physician though.

Thank you Junebug. I'm hoping this will be an easy fix

Just in my city there are about 50,000 people without a physician. As as I had said changing physician's isn't an option. Since I have some serious health issues no way I could go without one.

And thanks Bittersweet.

Hi Bittersweet,

I hate all things medical! I had a great GP but he left and I had to see a new one who asked me all about my PTSD. He actually said, 'How do you know you have PTSD?' and then demanded that I tell him what had happened. I felt emotionally raped! Jacqui is right, They work for us not us for the, they are getting paid.

Be strong and I wish you well with your appointment and your knees!

That's for sure CraftyCath. My old physician retired and the new one that took over was a total asshole. His attitude was something else. But when he outright called me a liar, concerning my kidney disease (long story). needless to say I lost it with him and told him where to shove his business and attitude and walked out then found the physician I have now. The one I have now wasn't too bad when I first started going to him. But he soon changed too.

That just gave me an idea for a new topic.
