Self Help Wiki Pages

I've now begun the process towards a self-help section. I've looked at many ways to do this over the past year, trying different things, yet never really happy with them due to the complexity of information and topics surrounding PTSD.

These pages are information, though focused towards how to get yourself through PTSD, whether mild, medium or severe. Therapy is lovely, essential even, though if you truly want to get yourself beyond things fast, then these pages will be quite abrupt, kicks in the arse in some places, on how to get yourself manageable and back into life.

Page will cater minor to major factors and trauma. They will begin with some basic understandings, leave out the complex stuff, and be very easy speak focused.

When a page is completed, it will have the under construction label removed, as all pages will be public whilst being created.

Why the wiki? Because a wiki allows the easiest method to change things as and when needed. Nothing is defined, and the content must be flexible and adaptive based on feedback and recommendations. What works for one, does not work for another, yet does for someone else, approach. The backbone that PTSD Forum was founded upon, and will continue upon.

If you have suggestions for areas of help, then please feel free to list them, HOWEVER; I will not be getting into a discussion with people here, nor is this the thread to discuss your trauma.

Ok... this has really been pissing me off. Beginning to write the pages has shown me that there is just too much information to get it right, thus I've been trying to think of the right solution. I think I finally have it, the simplest is the best. Go with the forum content that exists.

So... what I'm going to do is create a single self-help wiki page that is categorised by headings. Each heading, as relevant and proposed by members, will contain links to forum threads and specific posts outlining important points about a topic itself.

Being honest, the forum content is the best content IMHO as it comes from diverse education, experiences, opinions and views, and provides the best all=round scope in most aspects. So... if you have specific threads and posts that you believe members should read based on its content, then please post them here for discussion and review.

This way, all members get their view and share their experience in building a single page, categorised by topic, linking into the best information already here, most of which is often buried. It also keeps things simple for addition and change as content changes / newer methods become available. That has been one of my biggest issues in trying to sort through in how to do this concept.

The information really is just endless, yet only some is relevant to each person uniquely, yet all is relevant overall, depending on your trauma and personality.

My idea is simple, one single wiki page, subject based, each subject has links to thread/s and posts in thread/s outlining important and valuable points. i will link this page to a navigation tab, making it the sole PTSD self help location, and this thread being the sole discussion and recommendation for information by members.
