If you do the punching bag thing, remember to buy the boxing gloves.

Any chance you can get into a group sport... exercise is a good outlet... not to vent the rage but to channel off some adrenaline.

I used to do kick boxing but my bones are not strong enough (older woman here) anymore, tai chi, some karate and taekwando and a bit of kung fu... I don't have the $$$ or a master now. I liked martial arts though and get a lot of peace in tai chi with fan, sword and broad sword (for a woman it was graceful and very empowering)... the animal forms of kung fu always made me laugh and very happy.

The only sport I play right now is Frisbee Golf but I live on the Gulf of Mexico and do beach stuff.

I was a very angry young woman. So I can relate... but young man, perspective is everything and "life is relationships". You will work through this, 'k?

@The Albatross That's really cool! I've been wanting to take up Muay Thai and Boxing for such a long time, I may join some classes soon. I do agree it's about perspective, although I can't change that right now, at some point yes, that's what I'm hoping for. Thanks again for your input!

The thing about martial arts... is learning the discipline... that helped me a lot. I learned it when I learned the forms and eventually it became part of the way I did my life. A real game changer... you can't be a hot head or rush through the form... you have to learn how to manage and concentrate to do it properly and set it aside. When I could set it aside for class, I began to be able to do it more in other parts of life.

@The Albatross Yes, I completely agree with you! I've taken taekwondo and karate when I was younger. If you walk into class thinking you're all that, you're in for a rude awakening lol. Staying humble is important. You've inspired me even more to take this up, I'm going to start looking around!

Okay... last thought. Learning the proper use of anger was instrumental. Anger is to motivate you to change. That's what the adrenaline shot is for... though if you're PTSD... you likely get more than regular people do... I did a bunch of self study for like 4 years. Why not study anger?
