I just started therapy and this week will be my fourth session. I'm in a really vulnerable raw state emotionally. I like my therapist so far but she still hasn't charged me and doesn't seem to be concerned about my insurance. She hasn't even called it in. I haven't paid a dime so far. This really worries me. She told me we can set up a payment plan but so far nothing has come up. I'm worried I'm suddenly going to get slammed with an $800 bill I can't pay. She seems genuinely concerned, is verified by Psychology Today, and has other clients that I see when I go but the cynical part of me knows that getting paid comes before anyone's personal welfare. What should I do? I'm totally alone since I moved back here. I have no friends and no one I can talk to about this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Do you know what your co-pay is for each session? Can you set this amount aside after each session? Do you know that she definitely takes your insurance?

Yeah, this doesn’t seem like a weird thing to just ask her about directly next time. “Hi t! Hey, can you please take my money cause this is really giving me a lot of anxiety. Thanks!”

Honestly that would give me some anxiety, too. I’m awkward with money. I just throw it on his desk when I walk in the room lol.
