Shower Temperature

Yes I have really hot showers too! Sometimes to the point of near heat exhaustion:bored: Don't know why I do it really. But I like it!

totally agree about the cold rinse , hate frizz!

@shimmerz
I have a abnormally low body temperature compared to most people, I tend to run about 2-3 degrees under the norm. I don't know if this is related to trauma or stress but I would assume that is why I'm always very cold. I definitely use the shower to warm up when I'm cold. I know that I take the showers when I am upset or when I feel out of touch which reality (I tend to dissociate often). I also believe the hot water is more cleansing than warm or cold water and I suppose that sometimes I seek out the idea of being able to "Wash away" the trauma.

I know a few people that would take hot showers as a way to try to cleanse themselves. They had been sexual abused.

Another person with a lower body temp! I always run below average, too. I tend to like cooler showers, feels more refreshing. But it is pretty cold in the bathroom in the winter I find myself taking hotter showers this winter, but not quite as hot as you are talking about.

I have cold showers .

(I cut the quote--I swear. Don't slam me for quoting too much... it was a short post.)

So I was thinking about this today while I showered. I had the specific (light hearted, joking) thought "I save my cold water masochism for when I travel! When I went to Alaska and visited a glacier national park I went skinny dipping in the lake at the base. When I went to Ireland in January one year I went skinny dipping in the ocean.

Apparently once I get somewhere near water I can't handle not going in the freezing water. Maybe I should just bring a bathing suit with me everywhere I go. :) I didn't really think it was necessary for those trips. Then I saw the Large Inviting Body of Water!

:)

@Emily18 I find that my blood pressure is lower than most as I tend to go hypo rather than hyper (which is why I pass out etc). I wonder if you are the same. Other people may get very hot due to high blood pressure. It is good that you know the pattern. I have learned for myself that if I can only crank the temperature so hot that it puts me at less risk. I know my dissociation is coming on when I grab a blanket. It sounds like we experience things similarly. Please be safe and have someone turn down your water heater.

Washing away is something I don't experience quite so much. For me it is more about being warm. Feeling myself again. I am 52 and realize I have been doing this all of my life but was not aware until about 5 years ago. It is great that you are aware of this at a younger age! Nice job!
