Sleep Paralysis

Narcolepsy is in many ways the opposite of sleep deprivation.

I was not trying to take your peace of mind away from you, but I wanted to comment on your statement that it comes form this and that, because no studie has proven or found a pattern that fits peoples expereinces. There are only theories about SP and scientists and psycologists do not agree. But it is a sleep disorder, without a doubt.

Hopefully they will figure it out for you or do a sleep study on you to find out what stage of sleep you are experiencing these things in.
- It is in the REM sleep - that goes for everyone.

In addition to being unable to speak or move, I could feel energy above my body. Like there was someting floating above me keeping me down but I could not look to see.

I experience that too! Only I have seen "it". It looks like a grey cloud or mass of some sort. The "energy" is sinister and it floats back and forth, up and down. It dosen't really do much else. My mum suffers from SP too. The way she sees it, is the same as mine. Once, during the hallucination, she felt as she was able to move and punched it right in its center. It then made a noise just as you would if you were punched in the stomach. Oh well, SP really is strange. Is it not? :)

I have had this experience before and it was frightening. I was also suffering from episodes of depersonalization at the time and had very, very high levels of anxiety. Panic proportions. Once I got it under control all those rarer types of dissociations stopped altogether.

This particular type of night terror is referred to as 'hypogognic' I think, and occurs after you close your eyes but just before you dose off and always invokes a panic response. Other aspects might include, awareness within a nightmare and inability to 'get out' or wake up, overwhelming sense of an evil presence in the room, a strange voice or phrase that disturbs you, the feeling that you have sunken back into your own head or floating above ones body, pressure on the chest area, feelings of terror, horror and inability to speak and move.

Very bizarre as the 'presence' I knew was there could only be described as a black shadow or cloud like mass that was roughly in the shape of a humanoid wearing a robe or something, I whispered something in my ear... I was so terrified of it.

That is who I call 'the shadow man'. "He" is a different one from the cloud/mass hovering above me. "He" really freaks me out. "He" sometimes crawl into my bed, sqeezes me so I feel like my ribs are breaking and I can't breathe, and whispers, shouts, speaks words to me. Sometimes it is gibberish. Sometimes not. Most recently "he" said: "I love you!" And then "he" laughed. It sounded really slow, just like an old tape recorder running out of battery.

I have been learning to surrender when in the paralysis and calling for help from within and also from my guides.

I guess I mean trying to remain calm because usually I freak out and panic but the worst is when I feel something else in the room besides me...entities or something else malignant. I have just had a experience where I was frozen, and I relaxed until I found the strength and energy to break out.

All in all I am still freaked out. I am sorry this happens to you as well.

Peace,
Indi
