New Here
I've been diagnosed with PTSD at Mayo/Florida with a complicated list of symptoms that I would not bore anyone with, but I am seeking better answers than what scientists presently have to offer and hope together we all can make it happen. Having said that, I wish I could find something more holistic to help me sleep. None of the drugs on the market today are working for me anymore.

Hi Taxi,

The only thing I've tried for sleep was melatonin and that seemed to work pretty well for me. Other than that I have no suggestions. Someone else here may have more information for you.

Mostly I just wanted to welcome you to the forum.

Thank you, Kim, I have tried the melatonin as well with little results, but appreciate the welcome.

Hey, welcome! I am new, as well.

You wouldn't be boring me/us with your PTSD symptoms, if you're inclined to share.

I can tell you what I've done for sleep issues if that is of interest. Do you have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or both? Nightmares? Just trying to narrow the field and get to know your situation a bit better!

I found a site on the web that listed quite a few items that could be used:

Kava Kava
Chamomile
Passion Flower
California Poppy
Skullcap
Hops
Cowslip
Great Mullon
Bugleweed
Jamaica Dogwood
Mistletoe
Lemon grass

Of course I have no idea what preparations are needed to make some of these ingredients helpful, but research it...you wouldn't want to poison yourself or anything, or use it in an unaffective manner.

You might also consider our big thread on aromatherapy here too, a lot of us have added scents that we found useful to us relaxing or falling asleep.

Yoga, life coaching, therapy, these things also make a big difference as well.

It's pretty obvious there is plenty of information on the web about holistic sleep aids and things to help you relax. But it's going to take some research on your part to find out what you should and should not do. Some active ingredients used in weeds and things are used in modern medicine no doubt, so be careful.
