How do others cope with this?

Last night I went to bed at 8pm I was out for the count waking once at midnight, when I rolled over and was out like a light until 6.30 when the alarm went off.

I never sleep that much or that heavy. I am not ill, hadn't done anything exhausting during the day so it was very odd.

I would think after all that sleep I would feel refreshed but I woke up exhausted and Have spent today shattered hardly able to keep my eyes open. I can't wait to be able to sleep again.

This can't be normal right?

I think this happens a lot - we don't really sleep soundly or restfully, and eventually this catches up with us and we "crash". We're so exhausted that we sleep alot for a short period. But that sleep isn't restful either, so we wake up exhausted still.
Sleep is a really precious thing, especially in recovering from trauma.

Happens to me a lot too...I don't find it normal, it's something that I'm trying to change because I find it really exhausting, but...not sure how exactly to change it yet.

I know alot of supplements are supposed to help - think I've started taking them all. And hypnotherapy. Warm baths with lavender at bedtime, lavender essential oil in a diffuser.
But for people like us sleep is when the nightmares come, and, whether we remember them or not, they can be exhausting. If we're engaged in battle or fleeing for our lives every second that we sleep, no wonder we wake up feeling so exhausted.
