Socializing How With Ptsd?

I am doing a better job of socializing but seem to do better with one or two people. I do not do good in the period when a support group breaks up. I am shy and have a hard time thinking of what to say. I ususally leave then.

I never learned how to socialize so I have alot to learn. I am taking baby steps. I just feel so shy with people I do not know. I am slowly building self confidence. I figure with practice I will improve.

I used to be horribly shy Gizmo. A lot of people are and that's ok. After a group try just hanging out and not talking. Start with short time periods to not stress yourself out over it. Like taking little steps. First time do it for like 3 minutes. Walk up to a small group of people gathered after your support group breaks up. And just stand there and not say anything. Just for 3 minutes. Then say I gotta run, and then leave. Next time, 5 minutes, and so on. Everyone there will be ok with this. They won't think anything of it and it will get easier as time goes by. Eventually, you will find a chance where you feel comfortable to talk, maybe by asking a question to get yourself involved in the conversation. Then if you feel like you need to leave afterward, leave.

Extreme fear of rejection here. Ugh.
Same here....my T keeps telling me to ask people I interact with from school or work to meet outside those places. The fear of rejection is so strong that I have not even considered trying. I know I should try but going from a detached relationship of coworker to possible friend is terrifying.
