Keep The Streets Empty For Me by FEVER RAY

Memory comes when memory's old
i am never the first to know
following this stream up north
where do people like us float?

there is room in my lap
for bruises, asses, handclaps
i will never disappear
for forever, i'll be here

whispering
morning keep the streets empty for me
morning keep the streets empty for me

i learned to not eat the snow
my fur is hot, my tongue is cold
on a bed of spider web
i think about to change myself

a lot of hope in one man tent
there's no room for innocence
so take me home before the storm
velvet mites will keep us warm

whispering
morning keep the streets empty for me
morning keep the streets empty for me

whispering
morning keep the streets empty for me
morning keep the streets empty for me

uncover our heads and reveal our souls
we were hungry before we were born
uncover our heads and reveal our souls
we were hungry before we were born
uncover our heads and reveal our souls
we were hungry before we were born
uncover our heads and reveal our souls
we were hungry before we were born

Sorry if these lyrics upset anyone (though if I keep apologising for things maybe I should just not do them?? Aaaaand doing it anyway.....)

PERPETUAL BLACK SECOND by Meshuggah

"Trapped in a ceaseless fever of spite
an upending fit of resentment and anger
Caught in a moment of unforgiveness
In the snapshot of a hate-filled second

The speedless flickering of uncomprehending eyes
-dilated in disbelief
Your vacant gaze distorted
Twisted in it's accusing glare"

Mad Season- River of Deceit

My pain is self-chosen
At least, so the prophet says
I could either burn
Or cut off my pride, and buy some time
A head full of lies is the weight tied to my waist

The River of Deceit pulls down
The only direction we flow is down
Down, oh down

My pain is self-chosen
At least I believe it to be
I could either drown
Or pull off my skin and swim to shore
Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see

Grateful Dead- He's Gone

Rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb, you know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said, Steal your face right off your head.
Now he's gone, now he's gone, Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.
Nine mile skid on a ten mile ride, hot as a pistol but cool inside.
Cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile,
Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile!!!!
Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.
Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange,
Maybe off on some high cold mountain chain.
Lost one round but the price wasn't anything,
A knife in the back and more of the same.
Same old, rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb,
You know better but I know him.
Like I told you, what I said,
Steal your face right off your head.
Now he's gone, now he's gone Lord he's gone, he's gone.
Like a steam locomotive, rollin' down the track
He's gone, gone, nothin's gonna bring him back...He's gone.
Ooh, nothin's gonna bring him back

First Try by Tracey Chapman

Can't run fast enough
Can't hide I can't fly
I'm struggling with the limits of this ordinary life

I'm just a
Just a
Just a first try

Can't hear what you say
Can't see by the light
I'm struggling with the limits of this ordinary life

I'm just a
Just a
Just a first try

Can't say what I mean
Can't love from the heart
Can't trust in the mercy and the goodness in the world
Can't learn to accept that it's alright
To struggle with the limits of this ordinary life

Can't be
Just a
Just a first try
Can't be
Just a
Just a first try
Just a
Just a
Just a first try

Plumb - Damaged

I've loved this song ever since first hearing it on Brokedown Palace. At the beginning it was just a song with a sweet tune, but I've come to actually listen to the song and hear the words.

Arbuckle Lee (Plumb) wrote the song about a girl she knew who was molested.

I'm sorry if this has been posted previously, but for those who are ready or willing to listen to it, really should. I tend to turn to this song when I'm in dire need of guidance.

KMFDM- 'Today' (there's an extra-awesome version featuring guest vocals by Peter Murphy)

Isolation
When you leave its like I disappear
Desolation
Everytime you go it feels like
Seconds slowly turn to minutes
A month of sundays coming up
Time again pulls me under
Wonder if I'll rise above
It's too much but not enough

Misery loves company
For a little bit of sympathy

It's here today but it's gone tomorrow
It's here today and today will never come again

Desperation
Sinking into somewhere dark and cold

Deviation
A place I knew I did not want to go
To forget is all I know

Minutes slowly turn to hours
Another moment passes by
Seconds of eternity
I wonder if it's time to say goodbye

This song has been in my head for weeks.

"Night Of The Hunter" -30 Seconds to Mars

(La nuit de chasseur)

I was born of the womb of a poisonous spell
Beaten and broken and chased from the lair
But I rise up above it, high up above it and see

I was hung from the tree made of tongues of the weak
The branches, the bones of the liars, the thieves
Rise up above it, high up above it and see

Pray to your God, open your heart
Whatever you do, don't be afraid of the dark
Cover your eyes, the devil's inside

One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh

(Un, deux, trois, cinq)
Blessed by a bitch from a bastard's seed
Pleasure to meet you, but better to bleed
Rise, I'll rise, I'll rise

Skinned her alive, ripped her apart
Scattered her ashes, buried her heart
Rise up above it, high up above it and see

Pray to your God, open your heart
Whatever you do, don't be afraid of the dark
Cover your eyes, the devil's inside

One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh

Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart
Honest to God I'll break your heart
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart

One night of the hunter
One day I will get revenge
One night to remember
One day it'll all just end, oh

(Je te crains comme le diable)

Loveneverfails- I love that song!

Easier to Run- Linkin Park.
'sometimes I remember the darkness of my past
bringing back these memories I wish I didn't have
sometimes I think of letting go and never looking back
and never moving forward so there'd never be a past'

Camisado- Panic! at the disco
'Can't take the kid from the fight,
take the fight from the kid,
sit back, relax,
sit back, relapse again.'

Years ago when the book "Co-dependent No-More" came out, I went to a week-end retreat. It was the best thing I have ever done. That weekend, several members played my father, and I was able to go to hell and back and get my inner child from him. I also learned that I had no feelings, they were frozen.

After it was all over for all of us, we would just let lose and dance, and this song would be playing. I came home and bought it (on a cassette) and when I hear it, especially now, I think about how my life changed that weekend.

The Greatest Love Of All - Whitney Houston

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

[Chorus]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

[Chorus]
And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Won't Somebody by Bad Religion (acoustic version) - it speaks to my personal religious trauma.

Also, this isn't really a song I can relate to, but it is one I find comforting/soothing: Safe from Harm by Massive Attack. Heck, most songs by Massive Attack are extremely soothing.
