Stem Cell Transplant ( Sct )

Feeling like there should be a big party complete with loud music and dancing! Today Deb got her stem cells put back in. I am so happy I got to be there and see her. Okay...she isn't much of a party animal right now and kept falling asleep, but this really is a BIG DEAL!!!!! The smile she gave me, the few times she was awake enough to do so, spoke volumes. Wrapping you in my heart my friend! Love You!

Everything has already been said Deb but I just wanted to say I am following your journey and am amazed and encouraged by your courage and strength.

Well the transplant is complete. I remember them hanging the bags of stem cells and having a lot of vitals taken. But also received a massive dose of Benadryl and Ativan. I guess there can be some adverse allergic reactions from the preservative the stem cells are kept in. So the large doses pretty much put me to sleep with just waking up to vitals being taken.

Pretty groggy still tonight so I think I will be sleeping a lot. Probably a really good thing for my body. Been some intense days with massive chemo, steroids and then the infusion of stem cells. Now day zero is almost over and tomorrow is day one. From this point on it will be all about the counts. First they will go down and then they will go up.

It is also about keeping well and avoiding infection. Well everyone is on top of each possibility and it is up to me to rest and take care of myself. The new beginning. Kind of like the thought of this.

That's great. I know a hospital isn't always the easiest place to get rest but try to get as much as you can. Bodies tend to heal well with rest.
