Lately, I have found that when I am experiencing a very stressful situation, that my body reacts with intense physical pain.

I am used to getting tension headaches - I've had them all my life, and when I'm experiencing prolonged periods of extreme stress, it's not uncommon to have a tension headaches that lasts for 2 weeks.

But this is different. In the past few weeks, whenever my guy and I have been in conflict, I have had an intense stomachache come on. It recedes after a few hours, when the stress between us dissipates, but I am in agony when it's happening.

Does anyone else react to stress like this?

I have GAD as well, and I'll get headaches, stomach pains/issues, and pains in my jaw when I have bad periods of anxiety. I'll also get chest pains, which doesn't exactly help with the anxiety...

That is me exactly! It's a horrific nightmare! Can't figure out if pain sometimes is stress or real. Seeing lots of people to figure this out and why. Not sure yet; all's I can say is I was in an intense amount of real car accident pain for awhile and now I have this problem-never before-triggered PTSD full force? other like anxiety; although don't feel real anxious. Grounding helps if you look up grounding techniques there are some awesome threads! Hope you feel better!

I hadn't realised this at the time this is a really good thread for me to read up on. I have been up to my neck recently with everything in my own life, and my sufferer currently going through lots of stressful things eg possible job loss. There seems to be one thing after another atm, however I was having a headache that lasted about 3 weeks, I don't usually take tablets or anything.. But my head and neck was effecting my sleep, which was making matters worse.. Stress/pain/exhaustion is a toxic mix...
I made a Dr apt regards my neck, thinking she could tell me if it was a pulled muscle or what was causing this

She asked me what I was feeling stressed about, my pain seemed to be a stress related type tension.. I didn't actually realise until she mentioned it then it dawned on me that's why I'd been so run down, trying to balance too many plates.
Still have the neck and head aches tho.. :(

Thanks for making this interesting thread, I was beginning to think I wasn't able to keep my shit together but it helps to see I'm not alone with the stress induced pain!!

I have severe muscle spasms in my back and left shoulder when highly stressed, it lasts as long as the stress does.

Welcome @Wastinglight
It's awful isn't it! Yes, intense pain does seem to come along for the ride. Probably shows somewhat differently in everyone. My stomach knots up as you described and often depending on the level, I'll vomit as well. I get headaches, jaws and just overall emotional exhaustion. I guess I'd have to say that it may last as long as the levels are so high.

You might find some help methods in coping with the symptoms and bring down the levels a bit. Get some rest and figure out the rest later.

Just had it today; on my knees on bed to open door to room and whamo! Intense cramp behind left knee; excruciating and I couldn't move leg for a few minutes! Real or PTSD? Was held on my knees by an attempted murderer, related? Why would I torture myself with the pain? Stressful! Hate PTSD !!!
