Supporter Struggling Wife Of Ptsd Hubby Who's Gone Off Meds

I need friends to talk to about this.

The 'face' he presents to the world is of a happy laid back relaxed humorous man .

I'm afraid of his rage, I'm struggling with staying calm through his tirades/throwing things/screaming rages.

Welcome to the forum, monkey. I hope you can get yourself to a safe place. I don't care if he does have ptsd. You don't have to put up with being in danger. Maybe your leaving will give him the push he needs to get help.

Hi =) thanks for the welcome ... I did leave twice ~ he checked himself into a rehab (for vets w. PTSD) hospital for four months and it has helped. He hasn't, and won't, hurt me .. he takes his anger out when driving, mostly .. when I say I'm afraid of his rage, it's not that it's aimed at me .. he just yells and carries on while I walk away .. then he apologizes... he just went back on his meds today YAY =) .. he had his thyroid medication increased by 20 percent and just got fitted with two top of the line hearing aids (through the V.A.) and he joined a gym .. all today!!! ..maybe he sensed how I felt... love you guys!, Monkey

Congrats on him doing what is right. You must be very proud of him. I"m glad that rage is not directed at you, and you did the right thing in protecting yourself.

Pleased to hear he is back on treatment. It so hard isn't it when the outside world thinks all is ok and yet at home in private your world is falling apart. It has been really difficult to explain to people why have left my husband and he has not told anyone he works with that I left.
