Subwoofers That Vibrate Everything Trigger Ptsd & Panic Attacks

I experienced gang violence, harassment and stalking while living in San Francisco and even drive by shootings. Each time there were boom cars blasting their subwoofers so loud it vibrated everything, my apartment building, my windows and even my body.
I moved to a small town to get away from it but now people do it here too. Any time of the day or night in residential areas. My neighbor was one of the children evacuated from London during the WWII bombings, and the subwoofers send her into panic attacks as well.
I'm also a member of a PTSD support group that includes veterans who have the same reaction to that low rumble that you feel from blocks away.
These boom cars are actually illegal in many states, counties and towns. It has to be as dangerous as other distracted driving issues such as texting & talking on cell phones. A lot of the time these boom cars are going to or coming from drug dealers houses or it seems as if it's a form of intimidation and not allowed in nicer neighborhoods. Why is it that they are allowed to invade our homes with this noise that has been shown in studies to be damaging?

Just as a friendly heads up, no need to sweat putting trigger warnings up here, as there's no way any of us can know everyone else's triggers.

They aren't, in all areas. As you say, in many places there are noise ordinances prohibiting any form of loud noise over a certain decibel, or before/after certain times of day/night, unless they get a permit.

So I'm a little confused. Are you asking why people break the law? Or why police have a priority of response / don't cite every person breaking the law at all times? Or why your area doesn't have noise ordinances? Or just venting?

Round here in Hooterville it's always those darn ricers! Thank goodness that I live in an area not frequented by them often. But yes-------that bass rattles me to the core.

I live in a area full of them and they send me spiralling into flashbacks which lead to anxiety and sometimes panic attacks. I still haven't figured out how to block them out completely. Headphones and singing seem to help dampen down the anxiety to make it manageable
