Tattoos Anyone?

I have two tats, both are on my upper arms, (where I can conveniently hide them with a short sleeve shirt if I wish to).
Both tattoos have spiritual significance to me.
One represents death (and how it is a part of life and not the opposite of life) and
the other is of Ravens, (thought to be the protector of the child spirit by certain tribal peoples).
I will probably not get any more tats but I don't regret the ones I have. I don't think of it as self harm.

Absolutely! I have that one tattoo that is simply too horrible for words! ...yeah, that "sailor tattoo"..the heart with the rose ...the name..the one you aren't suppose to do ...but I did and it was way too big and he got one too with my name so ppppppppffffffffffffftttttttttttt :sneaky: I imagine he tried changing his too after the divorce! It looked fine in black tights but in reality it's a hot mess and the more I try to fix it the worse it gets so I moved one! Young and dumb, everyone's allowed.

I have a beautiful tattoo that is a mirror image of a friend of mine's on my outside wrist that wraps around to the inside, when they are put together it forms a full moon which is really cool. We designed it ourselves when she came here as a memorial for some loved ones we had lost. there are some other things on it that she picked and I picked individually, I have since added some stars on mine and a name. Then I have an ear tattoo, it's not finished but I like it as is, I just wanted to add a few things. I LOVE it! I have no regrets and have no need for more. My husband wouldn't think of a tattoo or even wear jewelery other than his wedding ring which while working he doesn't wear so opposites!

I have a lot of piercings from my teen years that I did myself but I limit the usage of those - double nose rings with my small nose just really was a pain in the butt! I had to have them made and then I EVENTUALLY sneezed them out, they were little diamond studs but of course with my nose I could not put in a back to them or I would have no air at all! Now it would just be a little weird looking though I don't begrudge anyone wearing anything, I think it's all very personal and I actually love seeing body art. It's like having a sneak peak at someone's inner taste.

Oh yeah, forgot about the issue of self-harming ... I don't think this intentionally, more out of just because I could and I had some cool little jewelery to weave in my ears. I hear you about the raging infections, that really sucked and not being able to sleep on that side for awhile. I have the double up and down piercing on my lobes simply because I got the first piercing too low :speechless:..

I did have a friend strongly suggest I use tattooing instead of cutting, he was so concerned about me when I finally told him it was an issue I recently had to deal with again. I couldn't afford to do it all the time and spur of the moment is out of the question but it was something to think about, his concern was infection and frame of mind. Changing how I thought about self-harm or cutting, using my art in place of self destruction. It was something to think about and perhaps that is what drove me to the ear tattoo.

I had my ears pierced when I was 12 just so I could wear ear rings. I now want my ears pierced again so I can have 2 ear rings in both ears. When I get some money I intend to treat myself. :D

I did find that the pain of piercing the cartilage in my upper ear myself gave me enough distracting pain to last me a loooooong time - that stuff hurts like a b, and takes forever to heal. When it was finally healed, it was easier to keep my hands off myself for a while - I had had enough, I guess.

I think tattoos are pretty, and have no objection to well-placed and executed ones. But I already have all leopard spots everywhere, so whenever I think of getting a tattoo, I imagine that I would be trying to match a leopard dress with plaid shoes, and get all skeeved out. Cause blood and pain don't skeeve me, but mismatched outfits do. Normal.

I'mjust havin the lobe pierced just above my other one, at an angle. My sister had it done and it looks really pretty. I know what you mean about the tattoo's LoyalOne. I would always wonder if it matched my outfit LOL!:D
