I so love this thread. I agree that this would make a profound childrens book. I don't have anything clever or insightful to add. However, I find myself thinking of this little analogy often since I first read it.
I've noticed, in my life, that since I have become ill I have very little cheese to share and have become very protective of my meager little stash. Most of the rats in my life seem to have abandoned ship. And the new rats that try to board soon learn they have to actually work for the cheese, so they leave as well. Thanks for helping me find the "silver lining" to some life altering health issues
