I was VERY anti meds when it was suggested. My depression was at a serious level.

I finally started after almost 3 years and although I still don't like the idea, the benefits far outweigh the idea.

@stp2012 If I was having depression I would be in big trouble. I always end up with SI, right now this is not happening so often that its needed to be dealt with with meds. What is at the core of it is something I need to work thru in therapy, and my brain is obviously trying to adjust to my current state of being, so the way I see it, its part of the healing process, if it were FB I was having in these dreams that would be different. I had those in 91, These are violent dreams with me as the aggressor, so clearly my brain is subconsciously try to play out me defending or protecting myself. Suppressed anger, the kind one turns on them self, so this is probably to some degree good for me as uncomfortable as it is.

I have however made some adjustments, I have my room setup now with a visual anchor I can ground to in the dark. So I can stay in the moment when I wake up from one of these waking dreams.

That's good to hear @recoveringfromptsd . It may help to ground you enough that lthough your subconscious is struggling to fight back, you won't self-harm.

Medication is often a good thing and not a source of embarrassment or a crutch, however if you can find safe ways to help cope in the healing process.

Actually the reason I got something to ground to in the dark is just that, SH while still in the dream awake. SH did not happen but I was at the beginning of SH while disassociated the moment I woke up, once I was awake and became aware of it I stopped it cold. So the in the dark grounding aid is there in case I wake up in the dark with a FB or Waking DREAM.

As I said me and my P Doc agree to hold the medicine in reserved. All I have to do is ask anytime and he will prescribe it.

The P Doc at the SP TDU suggested the same thing.

I'm really glad to hear that you've put these things in place. It may make a huge difference both in physical protection as well as mental peace when you sleep at night.

I certainly held off on any meds for quite a while, so I hear you loud and clear. If you can work through this without them, than that's really great!

BP isn't necessarily an issue unless you already have very low BP.

But your doc will likely monitor it just to be sure.

You may be ok.
