Thanks for all your input here Valentino. I hadn't watched the whole series all the way through, so next time I will before I post something I think is worthwhile. I just liked the way he explained the dynamics of behavior in the family unit in the first 2 episodes, and found it aligned with how I understand things as well...but yeah, he got a bit kooky later on.
I agree that love and understanding are essential components to recovery and healing though. And allowing ourselves the time needed to grieve our losses for however long that is needed for the individual is also really important.
I've been trying to convince my little brother of the value of being vulnerable, as he has said that it upsets him to see me vulnerable, and I know it also reminds him of his own vulnerability...but he isn't really interested in looking too closely at his stuff. I've had to just take care of myself now, and not place myself around him too often.
