What Ned said mate, You done good. We live and learn as they say. And as I believe Helmuth von Moltke the elder said "No battle plan survives contact with the enemy".

I am sure you`ll do good, not for him, but for your own piece of mind. Hang in there Fubar mucker.

No battle plan survives contact with the enemy - so damn true.
Well, I probably have to deal with him tonight so we'll see how it goes. Will probably post in the morning.

I wouldn't normally pester, but, SITREP?

Hey Fubar

Hope it goes well for you. It seems like you're spending more time and anxiety over this guy than he's worth. I'm sure he isn't thinking about you in the same way. It just sounds like me and how I can be over a similar situation. It's easy for me to say don't let it bother you when I'd feel the same way.

I will say that what ever you expect you'll probably get; meaning if you expect trouble there probably will be. On the other hand is you have no expectation you can be flexible with what ever happens. Either way, I hope it goes well for you. Work can be tough enough without someone to make it miserable for you. Good Luck.

I had another thought (I have to stop doing that, it's dangerous), with regards to the FNG. Maybe it is his mannerisms and the way he carries himself.

You all know that we with the beast inside are like sponges when it comes to stress and anger being exhibited around us. It does not matter what mood we are in, if they are portraying it, we feel it and usually act on it unless we have the whole cognitive issue under control.

I am just relating it back to the step daughter. I can be in a great mood and the step daughter will come home from work and stomp through the door with a sneer (like she just had a whiff of cat shit) on her face. It ruins my day.
And the minute you ask a question you get a snappy response which once again flairs up my mood.

The funny thing FUBAR is that she was all snappy and in my face the first time I met her, and its kind of like a target which I go looking for. When she speaks nicely to me, I sit there and think, wait for it!!!!!!!

Hopefully it works for you mate. Then again, be prepared that he might be one of these cockheads who is just not a nice person.

Which brings me to another point. In Australia, most veterans who are diagnosed with severe PTSD are placed on a pension because they are unsuitable for the workforce. The ones that need to work because their pension is not enough usually work from home or in solitary.

I had a mate who volunteered at the Red Cross. He loved it and after six months was offered a full time position.
I told him not to take as he would have supervisors, and they would tell him what to do, rather than asking him nicely because he was a volunteer. Well he took it and lasted two weeks. A very young supervisor told him to clean up a spill in the warehouse, and he did not tell him nicely. Put it this way, he lost his job and almost broke the guys nose.

I think you guys in the US have it pretty hard. Sometimes I would love to be able to work, but since getting out have tried three different places. I hope to be able to volunteer this year. I am going for St Patricks Meals on Wheels for the elderley. Volunteer, no money, just your time

That's the problem here in the US. You have to PROVE to the VA that you're unfit to work. Even if you have a high PTSD rating, which I do. I just think it's one more way they get you jump through a hoop and over more hurdles till you can actually get what you need. Last year they told me they'd have a decision in June, now it seems like they're pushing it back till next year. I'll probably be dead before they make a decision. Maybe that's what they're waiting on. :ROFLMAO:

At my age and with the economy the way it is I couldn't get a job if I paid for one. Physically, I couldn't do it now even if I had one. Oh, well. Sorry for the rant. Just have to get it out of me sometimes.

It's because the American VA system is so abstractly skewed in favor of the government, they make it virtually impossible to get a rating. Everything, the Drs. that diagnose, the raters that review, the laws, the rules on combining disabilities, all are against the Veteran. But don't blame your VA, well, entirely, it's congress that made up the totally absurd VA system.

For years and years, the courts have constantly ruled against the VA decisions. And nothing changes. And nothing will until the American Veteran starts pounding on their representative's desk and demand changes. But try to get a bunch us us to agree on anything! Herding cats, I've often heard it called.

Like I've said before, everyone wants to pay for the front end of a war, but no one wants to pay for the back end. Us!

I think they get a bunch of programmer or actuary types or something on that order, give them all LSD and speed and then have them come up with the most convoluted and abscure method of calculating ones disability rating. I saw the method that they use and it's veritably impossible to understand in any normal sense of the word. If you don't have PTSD before you read it, you will after you're done.

Jar, you still have to prove you are unable to work here too. The problem we have and it probably goes for your forces too is that soldiers are discharging thinking they just don't like it anymore, or they are being booted for alcohol abuse or alcohol related offences when the real problem is psychological. The next thing they know, their relationships have fallen apart and they have no income and no idea what is wrong.

With regards to the government, over here we only used to have two 'Acts' of parliament. The VEA (Veterans Entitlement Act) and SRCA, don't ask me what that means. Anyway, because more and more claims were starting to arise they brought a new one so that anyone with an injury or illness post 2004 would come under, it has fewer benefits and more restrictions. However, if it was due to operational service it still comes under the old one, the VEA. The sneaky thing they are doing though is if you claim for something and it comes under the post 2004 one, then all claims come under it, so veterans may have PTSD and wounds from service on operations, but if they claim a injured knee while not on operations and its post 2004, then all injuries come under the new act which has fewer benefits. It sucks arse.

I am thinking of doing the courses required to become an advocate and helping out the veterans with claims and those seeking assistance and stop the government screwing them.

Hey Jimmy,

I think you'd be a great advocate for the Vets in your country. Here they have some service organizations like the DAV, Disabled American Veterans Org. which I had help with my last claims. They're great. They know the landscape of the VA the new rules and regs and all the other stuff the average vet like my self just doesn't have a clue about. It's like the saying; too many cooks spoil the broth, or something like that. I like it when things are more simple and straight forward. You don't get that too much when it involves the gov't here. Guess it just comes down to the fact that you've just got to struggle along for as long as it takes till you get what you need. I just wish it could be a bit easier. I'm not looking for something for nothing. After all this time I just kind of want it to go well and be over with. I just really want to get on with my life the best I can, know what I mean.

Just to interject about the US VA. They do have a loooong history of screwing veterans. Perhaps a re-enactment of the "Bonus March" should be in order. In 1932, 43,000 veterans and families marched on Washington to demand immediate payment for WWI service. They had gotten a bond due in 1945, but thought that was bullshit considering. They were successful by 1936. Incidently they were cleared out with 6 tanks, Cavalry and Infantry by George Patton. Shot a few Veterans.

I imagine today with the internet, we could muster more than a million people to march on DC. Not demanding more money, but efficiency and common sense FFS. They can throw as much money as they want at that bloated beast, isn't going to make it work. It will just swallow it and get bigger.

just my 2 øre. Sorry to go off thread. Or am I. Not sure.

Wagon

Hey Wagon

I'm sure we could muster that many people but I don't think it would make a difference. Remember I'm a cynic. :ROFLMAO:

I've personally fought with them since getting out of the Corps and Nam and still the fight goes on. Soooooo........ don't hold out much in the way of the burocrocy going to change. It's kind of like a bacteria multiplying. It's been doing it for a very long time. You know one pencil pusher morphs into 2 then 4 and so on and so on.
