News This Was Too Close!!!!

Im still trying to process from seeing it on local News and Im driving to work and the radio keeps saying "Orlando is the home of the deadlyist shooting in US history". Why do we want to even say that? Except its true. In case no one has heard, a mass shooting happened in Orlando overnight in a gay club next to ORMC called Pulse Nightclub. I live in a small city outside of Orlando (right now I dont care if the site knows where i live)...Orlando is only about a 15 min drive down 1-4. TMZ said he had Islamic ties but Im not sure if they know for sure. Last I heard I believe it was 50 dead and 53 injuried but unsure. Here is our local news site:

I hope that link works but if not just google Orlando shooting. Im internally freaking out. Just 4 yrs ago I witnessed a shooting in my apartment complex (a break in) and since Ive been having a severe fear of someone holding a gun at me when stopping at a stop light when driving.

I dont even know how I feel about this. Im numb about this right now. All im saying in my head over and over is that this is too close. Im fearing it was a terrorist attack. Orlando would be a "good" target for ISIS due to the attractions and the amount of people that come through here. Im freaking out. Bombings and shootings everywhere...why cant they just leave us alone?

Sorry to take up space here...just wanted to talk about it with someone so thought you guys could be the someone.

Awful. I am so glad I live in the UK. We have serious gun control here. I have never met someone who owns a gun. I know it would be incredibly hard for me to get a gun, probably impossible. I can remember two mass shootings in the Uk in last 20 years. They kinda go together = strong gun control = less mass shootings

I have 2 daughters who live in Orlando, and one who spends the weekends as a nanny to her niece...scary.
They are all well and safe at home.

@Chimera im so glad to hear your daughters are safe! And yes, its super scary that it was this close to me and I just feel so bad for those people and those families! I heard on the radio that the police were walking amoung the bodies and heard a ton of cell phones ringing...the families trying to see if they are ok... :(

Im trying so hard to watch 'happy things' on youtube..not working fully but it is some.

@Kaluki one of the president canidates (I think Clinton) wants complete gun control (per my dad, i havent been up on the canidates so far). I was against it but now im not sure. This guy, though middle eastern decent, was a US citizen so even if a radical, gun control could possibily stopped it but maybe not if he had Islamic connections and/or ISIS connections but its too early to even make those assumptions.

But if we have full gun control then we cant protect outselves so i dont know.

@Anrish so far we know 50 are dead and I think around 53 injuried. We are shocked as well. Thank you for your concerned for us! :hug:

The news is now reporting that over 50 are dead and prior to the shooting the gunman called 911 and swore ties to ISIS. He targeted a gay Latin celebration event.

More gun control, or as some are calling out for, more mental health care, will not stop those who agree with ISIS.

I am scared our country will have a knee jerk reaction and make stupid decisions in response to this.

I'm also in tears for the lives that were stopped or forever changed by the attack this morning.
