I wonder if they're made in China, like most of the US flags I've seen for sale? lol My conscious won't allow me to share my monetary and other energies in exchange for something that increases the unnecessary production and demand of yet even more waste (as much as humanly possible), ultimately harming more things than it's helping in the long run, no matter the heartfelt reasonings for the cause. That's a major part of what has kept us in many of the vicious cycles we currently exist in, in my opinion. All of those fund raising attempts remind me of all the pink ribbon stuff that's plastered all over the products that cause the damn illnesses to begin with. Insanity.

@Tornadic Thoughts From what I could find out the poppies (the standard biodegradable paper ones the Royal British Legion use for drives) are manufactured in the UK.

I don't know where they source their paper and dyes though.

Uhm you started the thread by saying it's "odd" which is judgmental in itself so please don't criticize my reply.

Or is it that your judgement is ok but mine stepped over the line somehow?

That's cool, @Neverthesame . At least they're trying to be mindful, I guess.

It seems, to me, helping in ways that don't create a need for products like that to have to be made in the first place would be more prosperous overall, eliminating the need for the poppy pushing middle-men, but I don't know all of the ins and outs of how they do what they do.

I simply find it ironic that much of what is purchased to proudly support a specific country/the military/those who served/etc. wasn't even made in the country supposedly being supporting, and most likely goes a long way in mucking up the environment overall in the country they claim to love so much once it's disposed of.

Many folks tend to feel soothed in a sentimental way when they can use and hold onto symbols and signs and such to represent they have somehow supported another, as we've been strongly conditioned to expect something in return when we give of our own resources, in some way, shape, or form.

I just know my own personal feelings about choosing those types of supposedly helpful things, and where and why my feelings originated and have continued to develop as they have over time, by looking much deeper in many arenas I never even realized I needed to pay closer attention to.

I just said I do like old lady style, e.g. I really like wearing etui dresses and hats... a more modern version of old fashioned so to speak. Just was making some small talk about how I like to dress. Why is that judging you? I do not see the problem.

Poppies are my favorite flower.
I looooove the remembrance poppies.
But I can't look at this thing and keep a straight face.

The golden poppy marks the 100th anniversary of the first day of the third battle of Ypres. I shall be honest. I have no idea what the battle of Ypres was. Something during WWI I suppose.

Ypres is a place in Belgium in the province of Flandres. Maybe they have golden poppies there. Do you know the golden poppies? Not sure if theygrow in the US.

Do you know the poem „In Flandres fields“. I think it does not mention the color of the poppies. Could as wellhave been golden. The golden ones are very beautiful. The real ones, not the pin that is.
