It can indeed be a very negative cycle.
Those who aren't mentally healthy go into counseling so they can figure out their own neuroses. (Not all, but some.)
They get a bit of knowledge under their belts and then feel powerful over others, as they have been schooled in how to fix problems.
I'd stay faaaaar away from anyone with a therapy degree outside of a professional setting. Do you know that they teach how to break others down and get them to open up? It's dangerous if the wrong types of people learn these skills, almost like training in how to up your predatory skills!
I've met one too many f*cked up people who have gone into counseling. They wouldn't know how to have a healthy friendship if their life depended on it!
